galway, cliffs of moher, connemara, roundstone, etc

Hallo Leute, heute mal ein englischer Eintrag, habe nämlich keine Lust, das alles noch mal in Deutsch zu formulieren. Bin Hirntod. Bilder sind auch online auf meiner Webseite. Und: Hilfe, mein Computer ist endgültig kaput. Mist.

Hi guys,
Yey, one more summer day in Dublin today!
Last week my mom and sis where here visiting me. We had a great time, rented a car for four days and travelled to the West coast. They arrived Wednesday the 16th. Thursday we just had to go shopping with my sister. She bought a lot of very nice cloths (love Penny’s) and some accessories, great, and we had a happy Hanneke. Friday we had a little Dublin-Culture-Day, we visited the Dvblinia-Museum, had a look in Christ Church and then spontaneously decided to get the Dart to Bray and relax a little at the beach – we just could not walk anymore. On our way back home we passed by the long stone monument at townsend street and had a look in Trinity College.

Saturday we rented the car what took most of the day. We picked it up at the airport and drove straight to Galway, where we built up our tent and went to bad. Not very exiting, but nice.

Sunday we made a little day tour to the Cliffs of Moher. On our way we stopped in Kinvarra, where happened to be a little festival. When we arrived there, there was just an open-air service going on – at the terrace of the local pub! It was al in Gaelic, what was quite impressive. After the service there was a nice trad music session - brilliant. Then we moved on to the Ailwee Caves. That was also quite impressive and the best to do in the rain. In the afternoon we finally arrived at the Cliffs of Moher. It was al cloudy and misty, but a great atmosphere to see the powers of nature competing. On our way back we had a nice little stop somewhere at the coast with some sunshine. Back in Galway we met up with Holly and John to grab some dinner and drinks.
The weather on Monday was great and we were all well impressed by the beauty of the Connemara-Coast. We drove up to Roundstone on the Coast-Road, that’s really an amazing trip. In Roundstone we indulged ourselves with a night B&B instead of Camping. Nice bed with a full Irish Breakfast in the morning.
The next day we visited Malachy Kearns Bodhrán workshop, which was very interesting. My mom bought some nice Irish Tradmusic there and some last souvenirs. Then we moved on to Clifden, where my sister finally found her claddagh ring (nice!). We left Clifden quite soon to drive back to Galway, using the faster route this time. We had a stop at Lough Corrib and visited the tower house Aughnanure near Oughterard, before we went out for our last dinner in Galway.
The next morning we got up really early. Unfortunately we had very loud neighbours on the campsite this time, after they finally stayed quiet they unfortunately started snoring…
However, we were in time at the airport, the car we rented did not fall apart (it started to make strange noises on our way home…), we had time to drink a smoothy and then we had to say goodbye…
Pictures from the first days are online now, as always just click pictures.
Hope to see you soon. Take care.
